Sourcing solar power plant spare parts is a different problem in concentrated solar power than in wind or PV. The installed base of CSP plants is small, several original manufacturers have discontinued product lines or left the market entirely, and many components — receiver tubes, ball joints, high-temperature HTF pumps — exist nowhere else in industry. Pack N Move Renewable Energy supplies spare parts for solar thermal and parabolic trough plants, including the parts that are no longer straightforward to buy.
We operate as a sourcing and supply partner rather than a catalogue: parts are procured against your plant's specification, from original manufacturers where lines are still active, and from qualified alternates where they are not.
What we supply
Solar field components
- Parabolic mirrors and mirror facets
- Receiver tubes (heat collector elements)
- Ball joint and swivel joint assemblies
- Tracking drives and their hydraulic components
- Structural elements, brackets, and fasteners
HTF system components
- Pumps and mechanical seals for high-temperature service
- Valves, gaskets, and packing rated for thermal-oil duty
- Instrumentation for the heat-transfer loop
Power block and balance of plant
- Heat-exchanger components and general mechanical spares
- Filters, lubricants, and wear consumables
Obsolete and discontinued parts
Manufacturers discontinue product lines long before a plant reaches end of life, which is why obsolescence management is a core part of the service rather than an afterthought. The sequence we work through: source from the original manufacturer while the line is active, qualify an equivalent part when it is not, and — where no equivalent exists — reverse engineer from drawings or a physical sample so a local workshop can produce a component that meets the original's form, fit, and function.
The economics of this are covered in more depth in our article on managing spare parts and obsolescence in CSP plants.
How supply works
- You send the part specification: a part number, drawing, datasheet, or photographs of a physical sample.
- We confirm form, fit, function, and lead time before quoting — no surprises on arrival.
- You receive a quotation covering the part, logistics, and delivery timeline.
- We supply, with documentation matched to what your maintenance system needs.
A single long-lead component can turn a routine failure into a multi-week outage. The parts strategy exists so it never does.
Spares strategy, not just supply
Which parts to hold on site, in what quantity, and which obsolescence risks to act on early are engineering questions, not purchasing ones. Alongside supply we help operators build a criticality register and stocking strategy — work that connects directly to our solar thermal operation and maintenance service and our engineering consultancy.
