Straight answers on solar thermal operation and maintenance, parabolic mirror cleaning, spare parts, and how an engagement with Pack N Move Renewable Energy works.
Our core expertise is solar thermal power: concentrated solar power (CSP) plants and parabolic-trough systems in particular. These are complex assets that combine thousands of tracking mirrors, a high-temperature heat-transfer loop, and a conventional power block, and they need specialised knowledge to run well. We also support renewable energy power plants more broadly with operation, maintenance, spare parts, and engineering services.
Operation and maintenance covers the whole plant: the solar field and its tracking drives, the heat-transfer fluid system, and the power block. We build maintenance programmes that balance preventive, condition-based, and corrective work around equipment criticality. The goal is high availability, slow degradation, and fewer surprises, not just reacting to failures faster.
In a parabolic-trough plant the mirrors are the collector, and soiling (dust, sand, hard-water spotting) is typically the single largest recoverable loss in the field. Cleaning restores reflectivity using wet, dry, or combined methods, ideally with purpose-built vehicles that service full rows quickly and gently. We delivered exactly this for Egypt's New & Renewable Energy Authority (NREA): a Fermupe / Masesur cleaning system mounted on a JCB Fastrac 4160.
Yes. Manufacturers discontinue product lines long before a plant reaches end of life, so we help operators stay ahead of obsolescence: keeping a register of critical components, making last-time buys, and qualifying equivalent parts in advance. Where a part can no longer be sourced from the original supplier, reverse engineering and local manufacturing can produce an equivalent that meets the original's form, fit, and function.
Yes. We are based in London and positioned to support projects across the UK and beyond. Our first delivered project was in Egypt, where we supplied a purpose-built mirror-cleaning vehicle to NREA for its concentrated solar collectors. As part of PNM Group, we work alongside sister companies across the United Kingdom, Egypt, and Kuwait.
Engineering consultancy covers technical assessment, performance evaluation, and operational improvement for renewable energy power plants, across both private and public sector projects. A typical engagement starts with a review of the plant's condition, operational requirements, and technical challenges, followed by practical recommendations covering maintenance, spare parts, engineering, or customised solutions.
Use the contact form on our homepage, email info@pnmico.com, or call +44 7878 933017. Every plant is different, so work is scoped per project: we begin with a technical assessment of your plant's condition and requirements, then prepare a service plan and proposal around it.
